About the play:

Set between 1980 and 1995 in Ilford, East London, Ilford Boy follows the coming-of-age of Ted Martin, a mixed-race teenager growing up within a volatile family shaped by silence, repression and unspoken truths. 

As his mother clings to dreams of something better and his father’s unresolved tensions erupt into violence, Ted finds unexpected guidance in Patrick, a flamboyant performer living with HIV/AIDS, whose friendship opens the door to artistry, queer identity and resilience in a prejudiced world. 

Written by Danny Lee Wynter and directed by Tim Sheader, Ilford Boy is an intimate family saga exploring racism, homophobia and domestic turmoil — and the sustaining power of chosen family, creativity and survival.

- Please be aware that if an understudy performs in place of a regular cast member, we are unable to offer refunds or exchanges for tickets.
